Sweet baby girl, Amelia’s, newborn session:
I had the opportunity to do a newborn photo session for a family I met in our church playgroup. They are now a family of 4, as they recently welcomed their second daughter, Amelia. When I arrived for our session, I asked mom to feed Amelia, and I got to spend a little time with big sister, Elizabeth. Whenever there is an older sibling, I like to take some time to let them get used to me. It helps to make any photos with them a bit smoother.
After mom nursed baby Amelia, she was sleepy and ready for some posed photos. At first, I like to keep babies wrapped up with a diaper underneath, just in case of a bathroom situation from the feeding. As they settle into a deep sleep, I will usually remove the wrap and diaper. We never got there in this session because Amelia kept stirring awake. Sometimes that happens in a session and we just roll with it. So instead, I just kept her cozy and warm and changed up the color wrap, the backdrop and the headband for variety.
And then I got lucky. Amelia smiled for the camera!!
Are you expecting a baby soon? Would you like photos for your family during this special time. I’d love to hear from you.
