Earlier this month, I met sweet Chloe for her newborn session when she was 7 days old. She was a punctual little girl, arriving right on her due date. (Random fact: Did you know only about 5% of babies are actually born on their due date?)
Anyway, she was also a cooperative, sleepy baby, and she made my job a snap. It helped that mom and dad were laid back and kept her awake a bit before I arrived. (When a family books a newborn session with me, I hand out a welcome package with tips to help things go smoothly. I have found that when parents follow the tips, I can get all those “must-have” sleepy baby photos.)
For this session, like most of my sessions, I choose some muted backdrops. Chloe’s parents wanted the pink wrap for some shots, because there is nothing sweeter than a baby girl in pink. One of the images that her parents asked for was to incorporate a tutu outfit someone had handmade for them. I really enjoy incorporating special gifts, handmade items or special heirlooms into my newborn sessions.
Here’s a tip: When planning your newborn session, think about any special items that can be used or even think about having your photographer take a few images in the nursery to truly remember your life right now.
And one more tip before I show you the photos: Frame your newborn images and hang them right away! You will take hundreds of photos of your sweet baby in that first year, but you’ll always love to look back on how tiny she was those first few days.
Are you expecting? Plan your newborn session now! Pick a date about 10 days after your due date. That way you have it planned and don’t have to stress after your sweet baby is born. Give me a ring, (845) 803-1806.
